Quantitative determination of ascorbic acid content in some fruit peels obtained in Ado-Ekiti by redox titration

چکیده

Fruits contains peels which are discarded when these fruits being consumed. The research work was based on quantitative determination of Ascorbic acid (AA) contents six different fruit purchased from local market Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. procedure and the calculation is iodometric titration where dark blue complex forms in presence starch. ascorbic studies were grape, lemon, watermelon, orange pineapple. results showed that pineapple (22.7gcm-3) has highest amount acid/ vitamin C means wasted parts some most especially contain appreciable C. Therefore, prudent use by-products part can also be helpful to achieve daily recommended dose at same time assist waste management pollution control.
